The more than 300 undergraduate members of the Class of 2018 and the graduating members of Bryn Mawr’s Â鶹AV School of Arts and Sciences and Â鶹AV School of Social Work and Social Research will receive their degrees at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 19. Convocation is scheduled for Friday, May 18.

Here’s a glimpse of what some of the members of the Class of 2018 will be doing after they graduate.
Globe-trotting grads:
Rachel Terry of Cardiff, Calif., will be moving to Paris, France, to pursue a master’s of science degree in international fashion and luxury management at Institut Français de la Mode. Creative Writing independent major Sanam Sheriff will be traveling to Trinidad and Tobago, South Africa, Mauritius, and Germany and Scotland as a Watson Fellow. Philosophy and French major Emily Rose Ogland of Old Lyme, Conn., will be pursuing a master’s degree in philosophy and working for a philosophy podcast in England. Russian and Classical and Near Eastern Archaeology double major Marie Mach will spend the 2018-19 school year in Almaty, Kazakhstan, as a Boren Scholar. Fatoumata Sylla will travel to Senegal, Germany, and South Africa as a Watson Fellow. Religion major Shirah Kraus will be attending Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion. Her first year of study is in Jerusalem.
Westward Bound:
Physics major Codie Fiedler Kawaguchi, of Bainbridge Island, Wa., will be working at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Chemistry major Ami Okazaki of San Jose, Calif., will return to the Golden State to attend University of California-San Francisco School of Pharmacy to pursue a Pharm.D. Chemistry major Nazifa Tabussum of Dhaka, Bangladesh, will be pursuing a Ph.D. in chemistry at the University of Arizona. Computer Science major Lizzie Siegle of San Mateo, Calif., will be a developer evangelist at Twilio in San Francisco. Lauren Goto of Honolulu majored in French and Francophone Studies and political science and will be attending the U.C. Hastings law school in San Francisco. Economics major Nayanthi Peiris of Colombo, Sri Lanka, will be a data and policy analyst for Acumen, LLC, in San Francisco, Calif. Physics major Chelsea Thangavelu of Palos Verdes, Calif., will be interning at Aerospace Corporation in El Segundo in the astrodynamics department. Houston native Nolan Julien will be returning home to be a Teach for America 2018 core fellow; she’ll be teaching English at Yes Prep Southside in Houston. Also returning home to Houston will be Azalia Sprecher, who majored in history and minored in Latin American, Iberian, and Latino/a Studies. Creative Writing major and Computer Science minor Lillian Whithaus will be working for a year while applying to master's programs in library science with a focus on children's librarianship.
New Englanders:
Ying Yan, from Langfang, China, who majored in physics, history of art, and mathematics, will attend Harvard as a physics Ph.D. candidate. Biology major and psychology minor Emily Spiegel of Port Trevorton, Pa., will be a management consulting analyst for Accenture in Boston. Psychology major Lydia Smith of Medford, Mass., will be a research assistant at the Center for Social Development and Education at U-Mass Boston. Biology major Yuying Guo of Somerville, Mass., will work as a clinical research coordinator in the Disparities Research Unit at Massachusetts General Hospital. Computer science major Ann Tran will return home to Boston to work at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP as a technology consulting analyst.
New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and the Mid-Atlantic:
Geology major Helen Whitty will be returning to her home state to work as an educator in the Maryland Science Center. Physics major Carrie Filion of West Chester, Pa., will be starting a Ph.D. in astrophysics at Johns Hopkins University.
Mathematics major Jill Li, of Skillman, N.J., will travel to England, France, and China as an independent traveling photographer. Following that experience, she intends to work as a digital analyst and row in Princeton, New Jersey. Biology major Elizabeth Tramontana of Elizabeth, N.J., will attend the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine.
Political science major Swati Shastry will be working as a paralegal at a law firm in New York City. Math major (A.B./M.A. program) Sarah Gift of Washington Crossing, Pa., will attend Teacher’s College at Columbia University. She’ll be joined at Columbia by Catherine Bunza of Ridgewood, N.J. A Growth and Structure of Cities major and health studies minor, Catherine will attend the Mailman School of Public Health for a master’s of public health degree. Larchmont, N.Y., native Bisma Naqvi, a mathematics and economics major, will be working as an analyst at JP Morgan. Cassandra Paul majored in history of art and minored in museum studies. She’ll be enrolled in a dual degree program working towards a master’s of science degree in library science from Long Island University and a master’s of art degree in museum studies from New York University. Growth and Structure of Cities major Cara Maisel of Arlington, Va., will work as a financial asset management analyst at Brixmor in Manhattan. Computer science and mathematics major Kara Breeden of Worcester, Mass., will be interning at eBay as a Quality Engineering for Computer Vision grad Intern then completing her master's degree in engineering in robotics at the University of Pennsylvania, finishing up the 4+1 program. Ananya Kumar of New Delhi, India, who majored in economics and minored in political science, will be a program assistant in the Structured Notes Division at Sidley Austin, a law firm in Manhattan. International studies major Sarah Juma of Abuja, Nigeria, will be returning to Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where she interned last summer, as an investment banking analyst in the Equity Capital Markets division. Emilia Otte, of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., who majored in English and minored in Italian, will be attending NYU for a dual master’s degree in journalism and European and Mediterranean studies. Elizabeth Robinson, a biology major with a Spanish minor from Sacramento, Calif., will be working at the Naomi Berrie Diabetes Center at Columbia University Medical Center as a research specialist. International studies major Ashvika Dhir, of Yardely, Pa., will be a legal assistant at Shearman & Sterling, LLP.
Izi Silverstein majored in Psychology and Dance. Izi will be working in Washington, D.C., as a legal assistant for Sanford Heisler Sharp, LLP, and they also plan to be active in the city’s dance community. Math major Louise Chaehyun Moon, of Seoul, South Korea, will be pursuing a master’s of public health degree in global health policy at George Washington University. Fellow math major Phuong Nguyen of Hanoi, Vietnam, will be an economic consulting analyst at Cornerstone Research. Rina Patel, of Buffalo Grove, Ill., who majored in Growth and Structure of Cities and minored in environmental studies, will be a member of the junior staff on the United States Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, Minority Office, with ranking member Senator McCaskill. Mathematics major and economics minor Nehel Shahid will be a quantitative business consultant at Ernst & Young in Tysons, Va. Geology major Yezi Yang of Wuxi, China, will attend Virginia Teach to earn a master’s degree in geology.
After taking a gap year, math major Nuoya Wang from Beijing, China, will attend the University of Pennsylvania for a master's degree in systems engineering. She’ll be joined there by physics major Nicole Gildea, of Boston, who will be pursuing a master's in mechanical engineering. Biology major Annie DeHart of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, will work as a research specialist at Penn Medicine’s Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. Heather Liang already has a jump on her studies at Penn thanks to the Growth and Structure of Cities 3/2 program. Heather will continue as a second-year student in Penn’s Master of City and Regional Planning program. Houston native Emma Wu will be interning with the department of environmental management and services with the school district of Philadelphia. Sociology major Darby Andre of Fleetwood, Pa., will be a research assistant at Public Health Management Corporation. Steffany Chou of Bellingham, Wash., will head to Wilmington, Del., to work at The Chemours Company as an associate investigator. Tessa Haas of Potomac Falls, Va., who is a history of art major with a minor in museum studies, will continue at Bryn Mawr as she earns her master’s degree in history of art. She’ll also continue to work as a curatorial intern at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. Psychology major Julia Shreiber of Bala Cynwyd will be working as an administrative associate at a Philadelphia public relations firm. Political science and Spanish major Dana Gold of Oakland, Calif., will be a high school coach at College Possible Philadelphia. Anthropology and biology double major Mian Horvath, of Gilrod, N.H., will be working as a research specialist at the University of Pennsylvania's Center for Neurodegenerative Disease Research. Hayley Johnson of Vienna, Va., who majored in physics and mathematics, will be staying at Bryn Mawr to earn her master’s degree in physics. Biochemistry and molecular biology major Devica Bhutani of Plymouth Meeting, Pa., will be a clinical research coordinator at the Scheie Eye Institute at the University of Pennsylvania. Manroocha Singh will be attending the University of Pennsylvania’s Â鶹AV School of Education, where she’s enrolled in the 10-month M.S.Ed. and Certification in the Urban Teaching Apprenticeship program. Alexandra Acabá Berrocal, a Spanish major with a minor in Latin American, Iberian, and Latino/a Studies, from San Juan, Puerto Rico, will be pursuing a Master of Social Work degree at UPenn. Tauni Robinson majored in psychology and minored in geology. She’ll be working at the Philadelphia Zoo as a conservation education interpreter as well as attending the University of Pennsylvania for her M.S.Ed. In early elementary education. Political science and and philosophy (at Haverford) major Fiona Steel of Montpelier, Vt., will be attending the Villanova University School of Law. English major and economics minor Keana Bloomfield of Philadelphia will be a PNC Asset Management Group development associate. Zermeen Zahar of Lahore, Pakistan, majored in political science at Bryn Mawr and economics at Haverford. She’ll be working as an analyst at Chatham Financial in Kennett Square. Psychology major Bre Genaro of Kennett Square, Pa., will be working as a psychology research assistant at Penn State. Anthropology and Film and Media Studies major Maeve White of Chevy Chase, Md., will be staying at Bryn Mawr to master's degree in History of Art.
