Senior Thesis Presentation: Luella Wallander '25
On Tuesday, April 22 at 4:30 p.m., Luella Wallander '25, will present her senior thesis in music. Her thesis, "Out of Many, One Voice: Exploring Choral Singing as a Practice for Community Engagement," investigates the broader social significance of choral music practices. It examines the ways in which choral singing builds community among singers, drawing from the fields of ethnomusicology and sociology. Her research uses case studies, interviews, and participant observation to illuminate successful practices of three community choral organizations. Overall, the aim of this thesis is to contextualize choral music’s history and to contribute to the success of community building through choral singing. This presentation will be held in the Michael Jaharis Recital Hall and is free and open to the public. It will also be presented via live stream at this link.
