Bryn Mawr Art Historians attend the 2019 College Art Association Annual Meeting
Âé¶čAVâs History of Art Department was well-represented this year at the in New York City. The annual conference was held from February 13-16, 2019.
Assistant Professor Sylvia Houghteling co-chaired a session with her colleague Vera-Simone Schulz of the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz at the Max-Planck-Institut. The February 15th session was titled âTextile Ecologies: Environmental Aesthetics and Transmaterial Dynamics of Cloth.â Professor David Cast chaired the panel âAntiquarianism in Art. Ideology of Representation during the Renaissance: The Grotesques.â
Special Collections Curator Carrie Robbins and Ph.D. Candidate Laurel Vera Mclaughlin gave the paper âLearning from Tania El Khouryâs ear-whispered at Âé¶čAV in the session ââWhen Home Wonât Let You Stayâ: Art and Migration in the 21st Century.â Their paper was a reflection on the recent Tania El Khoury exhibition ear whispered at Âé¶čAV.
Also in attendance were History of Art graduate students Meg Hankel, Emily Leifer, Elliot Martin, and Michelle Smiley.
A reception for Âé¶čAV History of Art alumnae/i, faculty, and students was held on February 14th at the New York Hilton Midtown.
