"Sense and Sensibility" is a senior thesis performance directed and designed by Abby Helzer-Green '21. "Sense and Sensibility" is a recent musical adaptation of the Jane Austen novel of the same name, written for performance at the Chicago Shakespeare Theater by Paul Gordon. Helzer-Green has collaborated with Bryn Mawr, Haverford, and Swarthmore College students to create a digital performance of this classic work that highlights the relationships and societal issues that remain relevant to this day. "Sense and Sensibility" is the story of two sisters struggling to make their way through a world controlled by money and dominated by men. It’s a lively, funny, deeply moving take on this old tale of family, love and heartbreak.
