Spanish Professor Rosi Song Observes Catalan Election

Professor of Spanish Rosi Song was part of a delegation of international observers who traveled to Catalonia for the regional government's independence vote.
 

"It's not an issue of legality, but of democracy, freedom and legitimacy," Song is quoted as saying on the .

Catalans overwhelmingly voted in favor of independence from Spain. The Catalan leaders signed a declaration of independence but have halted implementation to allow for talks.

Song specializes in the literature, intellectual history, and culture of contemporary Spain. She is the author of  (Liverpool UP, 2016), and the co-editor of (Bucknell UP, 2004) and of  (Farleigh Dickinson UP, 2013). Her articles have appeared in Journal of Spanish Cultural Studies, MLN, Revista de Estudios Hispánicos, Romance Notes, Hispamérica, Revista Iberoamericana, Hispania, among others. She teaches courses on modern and contemporary Spanish narrative and culture, detective fiction, and film.
