Janet L. Steinmayer '77 Named President of Lesley University

Board of Trustees member Janet L. Steinmayer ’77 has been named the seventh president of Lesley University, in Cambridge, Mass. Steinmayer has served on Lesley’s Board of Trustees for 10 years.

Steinmayer is currently president of Mitchell College in New London, Conn. She will begin her term at Lesley in July. In addition to her work at Mitchell, Steinmayer has served as CEO of , and senior vice president of external affairs and general counsel for Trans World Airlines. She also co-founded .

In , the chair of Lesley’s Board of Trustees said, “Janet’s extensive knowledge of and devotion to Lesley, and her shared enthusiasm for our legacy of social-justice-oriented professional education, community partnerships, and lifelong learning gives us great confidence in her ability to lead this institution for years to come.â€

Steinmayer is currently vice chair of Bryn Mawr’s Board of Trustees and has served on the Board for 15 years. She majored in English and history at Bryn Mawr and obtained a J.D. from the University of Chicago.
