For the first seven weeks of classes, the lights in Park Science did not go off at midnight when the building closed. This caused some confusion when the new, programmable lighting system went into effect on October 30th and the lights began to go off at 12:15 am. Students expressed concern about whether the lights were functioning properly and their desire that Park remain open past midnight. In addition to student feedback, we consulted some faculty from Park and have decided to stay the course with Park closing at midnight, with the exception described below.
During reading period and exams, the above times will remain in effect with the exception that Canaday Library and Park Science will have extended hours. For the period of December 10th-20th, Canaday will be open 24/7 (7 days/week) and Park Science will be open until 2:00 am (7 days/week).
Buildings are locked and lights are turned off (emergency lighting remains) within 15 minutes of a buildingâs closing time. When a building closes, we ask that everyone vacate it so that Campus Safety can secure the facility and staff can properly perform building maintenance duties the following morning.
We appreciate your attention and cooperation.
