Bryn Mawr College and Haverford College student dancers took to the stage with live performances for the Âé¶čAV Dance Program's annual Spring Dance Concert. The performances are the highlight of the Dance Program's spring calendar and present an eclectic range of dance styles, featuring works choreographed by faculty and guest choreographers. This year, more than 20 students performed in the works of accomplished choreographers: Lela Aisha JonesTammy Carrasco, Melanie Cotton, Joe Gonzalez, and Rebecca Malcolm-Naib.

  • Rebecca Malcolm-Naib’s contemporary ballet quartet, “Dreamscapes from the Land of Quarantine,” evokes the surreal pleasures and traumas of a year under quarantine.
  • Lela Aisha Jones’ new work “signals” is a movement meditation on real and imagined communication and reciprocity between people and nature.
  • Joe Gonzalez, principal dancer with Philadanco, created “F.E.A.R." (False Evidence Appearing Real), a high energy piece to an array of music, including Max Richter and Frank Sinatra.
  • “Low Earth Orbit” by prominent hip hop choreographer Melanie Cotton is an Afro-Futurist hip hop take on satellites as a means of communication and travel.
  • New to the Dance Program, Tammy Carrasco choreographed “We’ll Keep On,” set to the music of Queen to capture perpetual motion as a form of resilience and persistence.
