Dear Bryn Mawr Alumnae/i,
I write to share the President Kim Cassidy sent to the campus community earlier today. President Cassidy’s letter highlights some of the measures the College has taken to help address the spread of COVID-19 by extending remote learning through the remainder of the Spring semester and cancelling the traditional Commencement ceremonies.
The letter also informs the campus community that we have made the difficult decision to cancel Bryn Mawr’s Reunion in May 2020. Please know this is not a decision we have come to lightly, as we know that Reunion provides a unique and beloved opportunity for alumnae/i to gather and celebrate with classmates and friends. The health and safety of all attendees is our top priority, however, and given the ongoing spread of COVID-19, we believe cancelling this event is the most prudent and responsible course of action.
In the meantime, the Alumnae/i Relations and Development Office staff are eager to facilitate virtual reunion class events (hopefully even during May 29-31, 2020) and possible in-person gatherings over the course of the summer and fall to provide opportunities to connect you with fellow alumnae/i.
Finally, as a member of the reunion Class of 2005, I am both saddened by these necessary changes and moved by the outpouring of support from our alumnae/i community, in particular for the Class of 2020. We have been given a unique opportunity to help support this class as they navigate the transition from students to alums. I am hopeful that the strength and pride we have in our alma mater will provide a source of comfort and community in this challenging moment. Thank you.
Warmly,
Millicent Bond ‘05
